Kessab and Al Samra: Planning a Mountain and Coast Day Trip
A Kessab and Al Samra outing combines mountain-town time with a coastal stop, but transfers determine whether both fit comfortably. Make Kessab the main destination and add Al Samra only when access, weather and return time allow.
Agree on the route before departure
Confirm the arrival point in Kessab and the available route with a driver familiar with the area. Include waiting time and the return in your agreement, and ask about charges for changing the route. This guide assumes neither a direct public transport connection nor a fixed driving time. Plan your main sightseeing in daylight.
Town time and a meal
Allow roughly two to three hours for a short walk, rest and food, adjusted to arrival time. Ask permission before entering workshops or photographing people. Check Kilikia Restaurant as one meal option. Travel963’s local guide includes it among Kessab restaurants, but dishes and hours need current confirmation.
Make Al Samra optional
Review Al Samra Beach and confirm your intended entrance or seating area before transferring. An hour or two can be a viewing or rest stop, without assuming swimming access or lifeguards. If your day is running late, leave the coastal stop for another visit.
A lower-transfer alternative
Spend the day in Kessab alone: a short walk, meal and unhurried break. This works for families and for changing weather or uncertain access to the coastal stop. On a longer holiday, give the coast its own day.
Packing and costs
Bring water, comfortable shoes and a weather-appropriate extra layer. Budget separately for transport, meals, chosen services and a return contingency. Confirm beach seating, parking or admission charges before accepting a service, and respect private or restricted areas.
